Comment on Why Fish Oil is NOT the Best Omega-3 Source by Dr. Scott Doughman

You’ve learned that increasing your Omega-3 intake is crucial to maintaining good health and taking fish oil supplements has been the recommended way to increase circulating Omega-3s in the blood stream.

Question: If you discovered that fish oil omega-3s were poorly formulated scientifically, would you ask if there were a better solution? You then discover that fish oil also needs converted to be used by the body, just like flax oil omega-3. But behold, a direct use omega-3 product is available.

If you could get the same benefits in 2 capsules for every 5 fish oil capsules, would you? Are you looking for a FISH FREE solution that can legitimately challenge the superiority of fish oil for omega-3s? Would that be worth something to you?

Now there is a better way.

An Optimized Omega3 natural formulation made from microalgae oil to replace the need for fish oil. Our technology provides a sustainable, scalable solution without any harm to the environment, possibly even leaving a negative footprint for carbon credits.

As President and Chief Scientist of SOURCE-OMEGA, LLC, as a PhD in Cell and Molecular Biology, as a Nutritional Research Biochemist, and as an Educator, I care about the global environment. I love its beauty traveling around the world. I see the need to change things through innovation.

I recently claimed findings that a new potent microalgae oil extract matches your body's direct metabolic needs for ratio and dose of omega-3, with metabolically much better ratios than fish oil. Plus unlike fish oil, our microalgae oil extract naturally contains phytosterols, vitamins K and D, and beneficial C22 Omega-6 DPA, also found abundant in eggs and breast milk. So it is ideal for brain health care too.

I claim we have naturally improved upon fish oil by going to the omega-3 source, microalgae, the ultimate origin of where the fish oil omega-3s came from in the first place through the food chain. Pure One™, our first breakthrough product is better formulated to treat dementia and Alzheimer's by preventing it. Soon the Phase III clinical trials of microalgae oil omega-3 therapy for early and moderate dementia and Alzheimer's treatment will be completed in an NIH funded study. The results are expected, as significant approval allowed quick passage through phase II trials.

-------------------------------------------

Fish Oil Versus Microalgae Oil
Ever wonder where the fish get the Omega-3?

The primary source of Omega 3 for fish is the microalgae they consume. Oily fish store Omega 3 in the oil surrounding muscles and in the belly cavity. High oil production generally means more omega-3. Processed fish oil from these fish contains many things, only one of which is Omega-3.

Pure One™ is the first product available to use a potent strain of microalgae to provide supplemental Omega-3. Because our microalgae provides a concentrated form of Omega-3, we are able to offer the higher concentration levels to you for greater health benefits through Pure One™ Omega 3 supplements. Cultured microalgae is also free from contaminants found in free roaming fish.

Contaminant concern in fish oil products is real and fish oil supplements have come under scrutiny in recent years. In early 2006, government agencies such as the Food Standards Agency in the UK and the Food Safety Authority of Ireland reported PCB levels that exceeded the strict new European maximum limits in several fish oil brands, which required temporary withdrawal of these brands.

Pure One™ has no risk of contamination because it is grown in a closed environment not exposed to outside elements.

I am in the medical field and it seems like the general consensus is that exercise is healthy during pregnancy. I want to exercise if I get pregnant but I dont want to overdo it. I feel like kickboxing might be a little too much, maybe you could offer a lower impact class for those that are pregnant?

I have to say in defense of Whole Foods, the quality of meat, poultry and fish at their markets is terrific. And their produce section is far and away better than other supermarkets. I don't think I am kidding myself into thinking that they are the end all be all for organic foods, but they are way ahead of the competition.

Coop,
WTG! I love that! I see from your blog that you're in sunny Florida enjoying some Mets action. Just remember to have a good time but make sure you're getting some exercise! Don't forget that the Mets players that you're enjoying aren't taking a rest! Their working hard to get fit for the World Series this year! ;-)

Amen to that! I have been going at least 5 days a week since Super Bowl week and I have never felt better. Mind you, I have been a member since last year and i kind of half-a$$ed it by eating poorly and not living my best life. But I just got disgusting and starting kicking butt...and bags :) I have already lost 2.5 inches from my middle. Psyched!
